Juicing Recipes Will Help The Economy!!

Well, it's official. Everyone is losing their jobs, no one can eat out anymore, we all have to work as a janitor at Denny's, stop showering with hot water, and succumb to a cheap, fast food diet. So throw out your juicing recipes, take the juicer to the pawn shop and put on your uniform cuz today you have a double shift.

One word: NOT!! There is at least one thing in that last paragraph that doesn't have to be included in our new "Crisis" mentality. Is it just me, or are vegetables and fruits still a cheap way to get vitamins? I rest my case. Yes, perhaps your GNC preferred customer card won't get used until your next birthday month (for the 25% discount), and that's a right horrible thing. But how about this; instead of having a nervous breakdown because your shelves won't be populated with "MegaMen" and "B Booster" pills - stop - take a moment... breathe in... and understand where the ingredients for those vitamins came from.

History tells us that one of the first things we tend to sacrifice in a financially challenged environment is our nutrition. Now more than ever nutrition is an expensive pursuit in this day and age of quick fix diets and vitamins that cost more than some cancer medications. I am writing this post to beg and plead to everyone NOT to let your health be sacrificed because things are getting tough. Think of it this way. You will have to work harder and smarter now than perhaps ever in your life to survive this downturn, so getting sick will do nothing but harm your productivity on so many levels.

Let's face it, you can juice on almost any budget. Veggies and fruits aren't so expensive yet. Look at it this way, if you lost everything and were reduced to wandering the country looking for food, an apple tree would be a very nice thing to see, yes?

Saving money is a key to withstanding economic hardships, and living cheaper saves you money. Here's an idea; take 15.00 and buy a big bag of...
apples+
oranges+
broccoli+
wheat grass
... and forgo that 85.00 "SuperMegaMassiveMonstrous" vitamin. You'll save 70.00 for the winter heating bill and will have simultaneously increased the amount of vitamins your body digests!

Seriously speaking, now that your job may be on the line, it might be worth it to look at that 300.00+ a month that you throw away buying vitamins, and replace all those happy pills with healthy juice. Trust me, it's cheaper and better for you.

Juice to calm fears, juice to ease medical conditions - lose weight, hell you can even juice to slow the progression of disease. It's not rocket science. No it's not as easy as popping a pill of course, but it's not rocket science. Here are the instructions, in 5 easy steps:

1. Buy a quality juicer.
2. On your way home from the juicer store, buy assorted vegetables and fruits.
3. Plug in the juicer.
4. Insert veggies and fruits.
5. Drink!!

Step one can be removed from the instructions above if you buy a juicer from this site of course, (I highly recommend this one) but that's entirely your call. I'm only here to help.

So next time you turn on the TV and see all the Doom Sayers tell you we're going straight to the Ninth Circle of Financial Hell, grab your veggies, some great juicing recipes and make some juice. Oh, and turn to the golf channel :).

Juicing Recipes Wants You to Eat More Turkey!!!

Hello to all the juicing recipes readers!! I've dusted off the blog to add a very gracious and heart felt Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers and everyone who may stumble by.

I've been a busy bee with my first attempt at a template for this blog (this template isn't it BTW) and also looking into my own domain - as a result of the incredible amount of visitors I have been getting over the past month. So I can say I am thankful I decided to start blogging about my passion - which of course - is juicing (duh!)

So to everyone I say Eat, drink, and be merry, and look below for the inevitable reality check we all get after the dinner settles and the football game is over...

If that countdown scares you as much as it does me, you may wanna head over to one of my subscribers blogs about online Christmas shopping (yes that's the link). I'll be doing that right after I finish the dishes.

Prunes Are Good for You, Looking Like One? Not So Much

Skin care is extremely important in maintaining a healthy and youthful look. Thanks to a multi-billion dollar cosmetic industry there are hundreds of products out that will help you combat aging skin. Some people even mash up fruits and veggies and spread them over their face to help battle the ravages of time. However one of the most understated ways to achieve healthy looking skin is by simply juicing recipes that include veggies and fruits that are known to have beneficial skin care properties.

What you want to find are those fruits and veggies high in antioxidants as they combat the free radicals loose in our systems. Most of the recipes you already know of are beneficial to your skin, so if you are not concentrating on your skin per say, be assured that as long as you are juicing there's a good chance you are replenishing your skin by default.

BTW, free radicals are to skin as a power outage is to an ACDC concert, just so you know. To combat this menace, ingest any food item rich in vitamin A, C and E as these have excellent anti-oxidation qualities. To go nuclear on free radicals make sure you add a healthy dose of water (8 to 10 glasses every day) as water is a key ingredient for skin health.

Consider juicing the following to help in your skin care regimen:
  • plums, nectarines, peaches all have low glycerin compared to other fruits.
  • Antioxidants and natural acids in yogurt and most fruit will lightly and nourish the skin, so try adding some yogurt to your favorite juice next time.
  • Berries of all kinds have known antioxidant properties and are elements of natural anti-inflammation. They can be used to prevent and repair damaged skin. Berries also help to add great flavor to what may otherwise be a bland or poor tasting juice.
As I mentioned, pretty much any juicing recipes that include fruits and veggies are bound to have extremely beneficial qualities to your skin's health, but by adding some of the suggestions listed above you will be going that extra mile for your largest organ. :-)

Who Else Needs A Vacation?

Well, I have decided that it's almost time for my bi-annual vacation, and being the seasoned world traveler I have always wished myself to be, I wanted to pick a spot this year completely different from my usual haunts. (The usual haunts being my back yard or the pool at my brother's place ;)).

Being a little spoiled for choice this year thanks to my juicing detox book selling very well, there are so many places near by me that are ripe for a good visit for some exotic fruits, a few non local beers, and some picturesque white sandy beaches. In keeping with the tradition of expanding my horizons I decided on a little YouTube research to cruise the videos for a nice spa-ish retreat.

Low and behold I came across my infectious buddy Jason Vale again, only this time his video gave me no new juicing epiphanies. Nope, the video below is about a juicing spa retreat and for an enthusiast like me what could be better? OK, a Lamborghini could be better, but that's besides the point.

As an aside, I think this Jason Vale cat is creeping around the inside of my mind and it's freaking me out a bit. Besides the twilight zone factor, you can now take a moment and picture me jumping up an down for joy as my cat looks at me like I'm nuts, and also whipping out the credit cards to book my stay. Watch the video and you'll see what I'm sayin'. Oh, one question, where is Montenegro? Hmmm... google maps time I guess.

Again, please note that I have no current affiliation with Jason, but his infectious and utterly convincing philosophy on juicing recipes for health are fast becoming yet another reason I am so gung ho passionate about it as well.

The Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Caper!

As Halloween draws to a close our blood sugar levels get ready for the inevitable spike that can last from a few days to a few weeks. If your children were especially ambitious this Halloween you might have enough candy to last until Christmas, when the true holiday season begins. Now as all of our Moms used to say, "waste not want not", so eating this candy cache brought home by our mighty offspring is obviously a good thing, yes? We are helping our kids by preventing cavities, yes? The candy has to go somewhere, yes? Ummm... no.

Someone I once trained argued with me that Xmas was the bane of her weight's existence. She surmised that with all the Christmas cookies and extra meals with relatives, her battle for weight control began every year with the 12 days of Xmas. I set her straight easily as I pointed out the bite-size Snickers bars she brought to the gym "for energy", coincidentally on November 1. You see, like most of us she had mercilessly stolen candy from her childs' Halloween basket. It was then that I understood how winter pounds truly begin to show up on our bodies, and Saint Nick has nothing to do with it. It's the dreaded Halloween Candy Curse that starts us on our downhill, weight gaining, winter pounds.

And herein we have to ask the question, where did the red licorice and Reeses Pieces really go? Little Johnny is certainly looking for it, after all he toiled for hours in a claustrophobic Ninja Turtles outfit to acquire it. He fended off a pirate, two Nuns, and Count Dracula and it's just a shame that it went missing from the candy bowl. Of course we tell our little darlings that too much candy isn't good for you, and of course we want to throw all that excess refined sugar in the trash. But wait, there's Moms voice again shouting "Waste not want not!"!

And therein is how the supply of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups ends up in our secret kitchen drawer for a later guilty pleasure, and not in our child's belly - or in the trash where it belongs. Case closed. :-)

So anyway, the point of this article is not to thrash the Halloween treat. It's to make you feel such an enormous amount of heart wrenching guilt that you immediately return all your candy to your child, settle in to a nice carrot and celery snack, and try out some of these juicing recipes that will keep your blood sugar levels fine. :-)

For the Halloween Hangover:

Fennel Shmennel
  • ½ small fennel bulb
  • 1 apple
  • 2 carrots
  • ¼ beetroot
Hot Tamale
  • 3 or 4 radishes
  • Handful of radish sprouts
  • ¼ beetroot
  • ¼ red or green pepper
  • 1 parsnip
  • ½ cucumber
Vampires Nightmare
  • 1 or 2 garlic cloves
  • 5 carrots
  • Handful of parsley
  • Handful of watercress
  • ½ to 1 apple
You can also find a truly epic collection of juicing recipes at juicingbook.

It's A Juicing Recipes Mash Up!!

Who in the world could compare Lincoln Park and Jay Z with great juicing recipes? Well, I guess that's me, because I'm about to do just that. First things first though, I wanted to give you my own personal Top x list of food items to juice, divided by veggies and fruits (in case there's a vote or something :-))

My Top 14 Juiced Vegetables:
  • beets, cabbage, carrot, celery, cucumber, kale, parsley, turnip, spinach, watercress, wheatgrass (I'm not even sure wheatgrass is a veggie, but for the sake of my list we'll say it is, ok?) broccoli, onions, rutabaga.

My Top 13 Juiced Fruits:
  • Watermelon, Honeydew Melon, Peach, Mango, Oranges, Tomato, avocado, apples, pears, bananas, berries, bell peppers (are they all fruits?)

These items are merely scratching the surface of what can be juiced for health benefits, but none the less these are the things that end up in my juicer most of the time. Now, some of these items may make you run screaming into the night, out of "childhood cabbage fears" or maybe from
"bad experiences with beets", but here's where Jay Z and Linkoln Park come into the picture. You see, these 2 musical entities decided to mash up their sound once, and the end result was incredible, musically speaking. Their CD was great and even though musically speaking they had obvious differences in taste, when they added together their individual sound and mashed it up, brilliance ensued.

This is the interesting thing about mash ups, they can turn a horrid taste into a very appealing possibility. When broccoli gets you down, adding a carrot or 5 can make all the difference. Carrots are very sweet when juiced. When cabbage has you thinking about buying a bag of Doritos, try adding tomatoes, berries, or anything else you like and you can make it acceptable to your taste buds.

Flavors that you may utterly despise can be offset or even completely nullified by adding fruits and veggies that you enjoy. Try it, make a "mash up", and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Combine the different flavor combinations and produce flavors that are literally awesome, and allow into your body the nutrients from foods you have boycotted since you moved away from home. A quality health drink and juicing recipe does not have to taste like motor oil. If you remember my article on curing a Starbucks Addiction, you'll know that it is possible to even become addicted to your favorite juicing recipe. I can think of worse things to be addicted to.

BTW fair and gentle readers, here's a video I found today while cruising the net. Not to be disrespectful but the presentation was almost as boring to me as a presentation on The History of Coat Hangers. However it is a very good juicing recipe and gives you a very proper step by step on how to do it right. And hey, if they add a Russian Dancing Bear next time they may even make it to my next Top x List!!
